Circa 1870, unusual mid Victorian conical shaped work box. The rosewood top has a satinwood panel with central marquetry and painting of a mounted warrior and a lion, surrounded by further floral marquetry details. The hinged top opens to various compartments and is above a frieze smothered in marquetry, with each panel separated by a raised beading and beneath are downward facing finials. Standing on a large circular column leading on to turned sections and cabriole legs with carved knees and finishing on a curled foot.
