Circa 1830. A quality William IV sarcophagus shaped mahogany wine cooler. The top in wonderful mellow flame mahogany with ogee moulding to the side and various beadings, the top is hinged and opens to reveal a zinc lined interior with various divisions and a small plug hole. The top is held in place by a brass ratchet which locks the lid in position, to the front is a large cast brass shaped escutcheon, the sides a pair stylish lifting handles. The base has a reeded section, and the whole piece rests on four classic carved lion feet.
