    Description:
c1860 Silver Plate Stunning Ink Stand. This is truly a stunning Standish made in or around the 1860's by one of the great silversmith of their time "Thomas Wilkinson" This wonderful item was presentment to "Miss Mellor" a lady of some standing in 1876 by the local Congregational Church of HOLYWELL GREEN, Calderdale, West Yourkshire sadly this was demolished around 1978 and most of its contents were sold off and went to America. Miss Mellor took bile classes in the church for a number of years, the minister at the time was Rev. Benjamin Wilkinson (1871-1882) he sadly pass away in 1893, not before moving to Durham in 1882 to Barnard Castle. I think the Mellor family we local mill owners and the head of the Mellor house married a widow of the Shaw family that built the church.

WWW.BARRIEWALLIS.COM Antique Sterling Silver has been a passion of mine for many years. I was first introduced to the Antiques world in 1980 by my older brother who had a Antique shop on Arkwright Street, Nottingham “Michael and Elizabeth Antiques” It was from here that I fell in love with this wonderful profession. Over the years he would help me understand the different and diverse aspects of the trade, from Furniture to Silverware. When I began to understand more of the finer details of Sterling Silver I soon decided that this was going to be my special passion. Please browse around my site and indulge yourself with numerous periods of English history. While viewing each piece take time out to think of the original owners and their surroundings, and all of those that have held it before you and the stories that it could tell. I try and stock a fine array of antiques from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco Periods.
