An English, vellum document in modern frame, dating to the 17th century and later, dated to 1671.Issued in three parts, indentures were legal documents cut with wavy edges, meaning two copies could be matched for authenticity. This wavy shaped cut, known as toothed gave part of the document's name - the indenture.
