Pairs for Valentine
It's the month of love and at this time of year, our minds turn to the subject of romance, in fact you may have been thinking about it back in January. The shops will certainly have forced your hand and made you begin to consider the month of love to come, what with their blinking lights, fluffy red hearts and sentimental cards.
It's a difficult time for those of us who are still single, however, if you're part of a couple you may find this a useful time to make a declaration of love, to show your appreciation, or to even make a proposal.
There's emphasis on pairing up, and pairs in general and this where our blog will focus its attention this month, on the subject of pairing.
Pairs and Valentine
If you're part of a couple and you're thinking of the perfect Valentine gift, or even making a proposal, then there's no greater choice than choosing something that's part of a pair. A unique pair of something that's antique will come with it's own unique history, perhaps even a history that is parallel with your own. It doesn't have to be a piece of jewellery, although naturally this is the natural first choice. A pair of matching rings maybe? A ring for you and earrings for your partner, or vice versa.
You could try something that's in tune with both your personal interests, perhaps a matching pair of binoculars, or maybe that's a step too far. Why not go for a pair of matching armchairs then, a pair of matching card tables, or pair of candelabras.
Take a look around....
Take a look through our directory on www.antiques.co.uk and you could find yourself something special that you can share with your partner, take a look down the list of subjects down the left hand side of the screen, or use the search engine to find what you're looking for.
Perhaps you find the idea of a love bird pairing a little sickly, after all, although fascinating birds, the idea that while they're interesting on their own, they need to be in pairs is a little needy, as well a complete myth. However, if you do like the idea of a pairing and you quite fancy an antique gift then take a look around our site and see if you can find something suitable.
You don't have to spend much, just use your imagination...
It doesn't have to be anything quite as extravagant as what Richard Burton bought Elizabeth Taylor, such as the diadem designed by Van Cleef & Arpels which would today be worth around $8.5 million, you could just go for something simple, something that the both of you can enjoy. So take a look around, hopefully around www.antiques.co.uk where there's plenty of choice and you'll find the perfect gift.
