Everyone has an idea of how we will decorate and furnish our homes, there's certainly plenty of ideas to be had in magazines these days, both online and in print, and numerous programmes on interior décor to give us a little inspiration.
Sometimes we may have very firm ideas on how we wish to decorate our homes and at other times we look for clues in other places or people. If you're looking for a particular look and have an era in mind, then there's plenty of work to do.
Themes
You may have set your mind on a Georgian theme for one or perhaps every room in the house, maybe you favour an Art Deco look with plenty of colour, symmetry and glass.
Victorian is a favourite with many house dwellers and there are plenty of Victorian houses still on the market. Maybe you love the forties? It certainly inspired one person in a recent collectables TV programme, who'd decorated his entire living room with forties furniture and accessories, even down to the carpets and walls. That's dedication for you.
Looking for something in-particular?
On the other hand, perhaps you've got something else in mind and you’re just looking for a final item to finish off the entire room. A set of lights, a chandelier, a pair of chairs or a complete dinner service.
If you're a regular visitor you'll know that we have a vast selection of antiques covering a versatile range of items and different eras. It's easy to use, as you know, and what's more there's a tidy list at the side of the screen listing all our categories, making it easier for you to find exactly what you want.
Take a look and start your room planning now. Sort out your colour scheme and start scouring our pages for lots of fascinating pieces, some of which are bound to be what you're looking for. It's fun as well as easy to do in the comfort of your own home with a mug of coffee or a glass of wine.
This year we’re going to do a series of blogs on Interiors, helping you to find exactly what you're looking for, and hopefully to provide you with some exciting new ideas to help inspire you. So, here at www.antiques.co.uk enjoy the New Year and let us share our world with you throughout 2015, and who knows what we will find!
