Circa 1860, exhibition quality seven piece rosewood drawing room suite. The suite consists of a three seater sofa, a pair of carved open easy chairs and a set of four side chairs. The sofa has a carved top rail with a large scallop shell and swag of flowers below it. There is Rococo carving on both sides and the frame is shaped on the sides. It has padded arms and the front of arms are also carved. There is a double serpentine front with a carved apron and frieze, and the sofa stands on very stylish cabriole legs. The pair of armchairs again has a carved top rail, wonderful vase shaped back, open arms with carving shapes all over, standing on cabriole legs at the front and outswept back legs. The four side chairs are of a similar ilk, with unusual castors which are ribbed on the front. All of the suite is covered in the original needlepoint, which is floral and depicts various scenes. The fabric is worn consistently on all of the pieces. (We will split the suite).

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
