Circa 1840. An early Victorian Exhibition quality burr walnut and amboyna credenza. The top with its finely figured amboyna, with a pierced ¾ gallery, simple fore edge with a fine egg and dart beading beneath. The cabinet has two pairs of doors on each flanked by carved and fluted columns, arched doors with pierced fretwork opening to a pair of shelves. In the center a pair of glazed doors with a fine beading similar to the foredge, with two adjustable shelves. The whole piece rests on a large deep enclosed plinth which protrudes past the four columns at the front. Great colour and patination.
