Circa 1880. A stylish quality carved French oak bookcase. The solid top surmounted by a carved and shaped back, (which is removable) the fore-edge with ogee moulding and carved fore-edge with a full-length drawer in the frieze with stylish carving on the facing and an unusual metal and oak knob handle. Carved panels on each end, with elongated corbels including scrolling and foliate carving, with three solid oak adjustable shelves, beneath the bottom shelf there is further carving and the whole piece rests on a neat size squat enclosed plinth. There is a maker’s label on the back of the bookcase.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
