Circa 1900, very stylish carved mahogany Chippendale style cheval mirror. The wonderful carved top has shell and unusual foliate carving. Inside this unusual shaped and beaded frame there is the original hand bevel edged mirror. The mirror is held in place by 2 massive uprights, which are polished on the front and back and finish with a slight swept top and foliate carving, and 2 pins with stylish brass knobs. Below the mirror is a wonderful stepped cross stretcher to give stability. From this there are 4 elegant well carved sabre cabriole legs with relief carving on the top and finishing on a stylised realistic hairy paw foot. The mirror is very clean and stylish.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
