Circa 1830, wonderful Dutch marquetry dressing table/chest of drawers of monumental proportions. The top section has a large rectangular framed mirror surrounded by floral marquetry and held in place by two mahogany columns which have marquetry inlay scrolling around from top to bottom and finish with a pair of large beehive style finials. At the base is a single long drawer. The mirror section is embedded into a chest of drawers with four graduating drawers, the top drawer set more forward than the rest, all smothered in floral marquetry. The gables of the chest are inlaid with urns on both sides with flowers and butterflies. At the front, the chest stands on raised tapering feet and a bracket foot at the back. Wonderful example of Dutch furniture of the period. Good colour and condition, and excellent patination.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
