Hendle’s Hoard is now offering this is a fine quality antique English Edwardian office chair, with a newly upholstered blue velvet chair, circa 1910, in excellent condition. The desk chair is designed with an elegant curved backrest above a bank of spindles, connected to shaped arms, which are secured by sweeping vertical supports. The seat which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner. Gently cabriole shaped legs to the front and rear support the chair, united by three turned and shaped stretchers for additional strength. Functional chairs were typically made from oak, as this species of wood is a particularly strong wood. This Edwardian office chair is very comfortable to sit on, having a shaped backrest and padded seat; it also retains a lovely colour and patination.
