Circa 1880, small French style boudoir bergere sofa, with a stamp underneath ‘T.Justice & Sons Ltd, Cabinet Makers & Upholsterers Dundee’. The sofa has an elegant back with a carved top rail and decoration in the centre. The back has a large panel which is bergere and there are 2 further bergere panels on the arms on either side which are curved. The seat is also in bergere of a fine mesh type. The uprights supporting the main back are carved throughout with floral decorations at the top and the arms curve around to the front, again profusely carved throughout. The seat is large and oval with carved moulded edges, and below this the apron has a carved foliate centre and a pattern of carvings which is repeated throughout the sofa front and back. The sofa stands on four carved elegant cabriole legs which finish on a very fine toe. There is a feather filled squab cushion which fits onto the seat. An unusual piece of furniture in pristine condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
