Circa 1880. A late Victorian quality French walnut Louis IV style bed. The headboard with pierced and carved with shell and foliate carving crest. The panel with diagonally quarter matched veneer with extended C and S scrolls framing, with curvaceous sides with foliate carving, the tail board of similar form and shape with a carved bombe shaped cartouche in the centre with a shaped frieze with foliate carving, resting on profusely carved cabriole legs, with two carved side rails which have been fitted with slatted timber above. The bed is clean and sturdy.
