george iii inlaid bureau with four drawers

This is a mid 18th Century ( c 1760-1811) George III inlaid mahogany bureau of four long graduating drawers with key.

The solid brass swan neck handles are in period but of a later date. The bureau is in good working order. It features a cross banded fall front and three long graduated drawers. The fall front once open reveals a fitted interior, canopied mahogany pigeon holes and drawers of various sizes. There are eight short, a long and a small drawer all with their original brass knobs. The fall like the drawers has retained the original locks. The tooled black leather of the bureau is of a later date and it is in pristine condition. The bureau stands firmly on bracket feet. The bureau is over 220 years old and has a wealth of character and charm. It has aged to a medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina and is in good condition considering its age and history. It has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing. I can describe this piece as a lovely, Georgian antique piece of furniture with a great deal of character.
