Circa 1800, George III mahogany inlaid side table probably by Young & Trotter of Edinburgh. The rectangular top has deep chamfered corners and raised crossbanded edge, with triple line chequered inlay on the fore edge. On the front is a single drawer in the apron with a diamond escutcheon, opening to reveal a mahogany interior with three divisions. Beneath the apron is a chevron inlay which runs around the entire piece. It is polished on the back and freestanding. The table stands on four square tapering legs with slightly turned out feet. The legs have string inlay on the front with the classic Edinburgh feature of the arch with dot above. Toward the bottom of the legs are unusual inlaid concave stretchers which are thin and elegant. Wonderful example of late George III Edinburgh furniture.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
