Circa 1770, a George III shaped mahogany fold over card table. The solid mahogany top has a rounded corner and matching base beneath it. The top is hinged and opens to reveal a lined interior, with cut out sections for drinks and nibbles. Beneath the top there is a flat apron that continues around the side and at the front. The two back legs and the back panel come out on folding oak undercarriages. The front of these carriages are veneered in flame mahogany. Inside of these carriages are a small rail and pull out tray that locks the table into position. The middle of the pull out section has a small tray for holding the gaming cards. At the back there is a hand-made or blacksmith-made clasp for locking the legs into position when the table becomes closed. The table stands on four well carved cabriole legs. The top of the legs and quarter brackets are carved with foliate carving, and on the front leg there is a small flower head in the quarter blocks. As the legs continue down they finish on a paper fold end. The table is a neat size, in an excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
