Circa 1790. A late George III Scottish Mahogany and inlaid serpentine fronted chest of drawers. The top with well figured mahogany, broad satinwood banding which is framed with boxwood. Simple moulded fore-edge, to the front there is a configuration of four serpentine drawers which graduate from top to bottom, each with string inlay which is canted on the corners, with cast brass swan neck handles, oval backplates and rounded brass escutcheons. Beneath the bottom drawer there is a shaped inlayed frieze which continues around the sides. The chest stands on four large French bracket feet with further string inlay. The chest has excellent colour, recently re-polished (traditionally).
