Circa 1830.
A George IV mahogany two-part military chest, the sides, top and bottom, have a pair of stylish cast brass lifting handles. The front has one full length drawer with two full length drawers in the base. The top Secretaire drawer has its original lock stamped ‘GR patent.’ It opens to reveal a well-fitted interior including various drawers, pigeon holes and stylish arches and a leather insert writing surface. It has a diamond shaped brass escutcheon in landscape form. Each drawer has a pair of cast brass, flush military handles, of an unusual style but excellent quality, all resting on four squat bun feet.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981.
