hepplewhite style mahogany sofa

Circa 1900, George III mahogany Hepplewhite style sofa, with a camel back and newly upholstered in a sumptuous red damask. It has three individual cushions and one large feather filled seat cushion which follows the shape of the sofa. The curved back is piped and finished with cord. There is a small padded arm, with a ribbed mahogany section which curves down and becomes the front leg. The front of the sofa is all upholstered and serpentine shape. The sofa stands on four square tapering front legs with foliate carving in the centre, on block toes, and with a small inlaid shell on the top of outer legs. At the back are four square legs which are slightly outswept. Excellent condition and very stylish.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
