Circa 1920, good sized oak dresser base/sideboard in the Jacobean style. The long rectangular planked top has a moulded edge, and beneath this are three drawers with knob handles. The drawer on the left has been subdivided for cutlery, and each of the drawers has a stylish pattern on the front with carved arches. Beneath this is an ogee moulding which runs around the front and sides . There are four foliate carvings between the drawers, and these continue into a ribbed section and a tapering carved pilaster. There are three cupboard doors between the pilasters, again with knob handles and a stylish carved beading, a fielded panel and a solid oak panel in the centre. Inside the cupboards is one large shelf which runs the entire length of the dresser. There are fielded panels on the gables, and beneath the doors is an ogee moulding which has a foliate carving. All standing on four sturdy block feet. This piece has the impression of being older than it is, with great colour and patination.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
