Circa 1900. An exhibition quality kidney shaped leather topped writing table, probably by ‘Morrison and Co of Edinburgh’, original tan leather which is tooled and gilded, with the small half round low gallery which continues round the top and just stops at the front, there is one narrow shaped drawer with elegant escutcheon and to each side a pair of curved fronted drawers with cast brass handles in the form of a wreath, polished on all sides making the desk free standing, resting on four elegant cabriole legs with foliate carving in the quarter blocks and on the facing the legs finishing on 4 cast-brass sabots in the form of animal feet.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
