Circa 1830, pair of mahogany and leather upholstered club armchairs, in the manner of Thomas Colquhoun of Glasgow. With arched tops finishing with a C scroll, the generous moulded frame has a deep buttoned back and seat upholstered in a light brown/tan leather. The arms are upholstered in matching leather and held in place by scrolling supports, with a carved apron beneath the seat and sides, simulating a beaded edge. With outswept back legs finishing on scrolling metal feet (allowing the chairs to move with ease). The front legs are well carved with foliate designs, c-scrolling and finish on a hairy paw foot.
In the manner of Thomas Colquhoun, cabinetmakers and upholsterers (listed at St Vincent St, Glasgow from 1847).

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
