Circa 1890, stylish pair of walnut bedside cabinets. The square pink variegated marble tops have rounded corners and a moulded edge. Below this is a canted corner with ribbing and fluted and a single drawer with a raised moulded front and a cast brass knob handle in the form of a flower head. This is repeated on the cupboard below. The liner of the drawer is oak, and there is a moulding beneath the drawer which continues around the sides and back. The panelled cupboard door has mitred fore edges, and this is pull down door with pin hinges which drops down to reveal an uninterrupted interior. Beneath this is a moulded edge and a shaped stylised apron which continues on all sides. There are four large carved leaves on each of the corners, and from this come elegant carved cabriole legs finishing on a raised carved toes. Excellent colour and condition. Polished on all sides making them freestanding – they could be used as pedestals or side tables.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
