Circa 1860. A rare unusual, exhibition quality Victorian burr walnut and carved oval-shaped whatnot. Two neat sized elegant curved pierced galleries on each side, double frieze with foliate carving on both. Beneath the top there are two profusely carved and shaped sections, underside is in a cornucopia of carving and fretwork carving of exhibition quality, central column has tapering bulbous foliate carving, braced on each side by pierced fretwork sections which run from top to bottom in high Victorian style. On the bottom tier there is two further fretwork sections which are used as dividers. The lower tier similar in shape to the top, carved frieze front and back. The whole piece stands on four unusual curved feet with open fretwork and finishing on brass and porcelain casters.
