Circa 1860, Sheraton revival satinwood inlaid and painted Vin de Garde/wine cooler. The top is crossbanded in kingwood, satinwood and ebony and there is a further panel in the centre with a wonderful satinwood veneer. The double border is painted with flowers, leaves and branches. At the sides there are George III style brass swan neck lifting handles. At the front there is a large oval panel painted with children and cherubs beneath a tree and a woodland scene. There is also cross banding on the front, back and sides which matches the top. The Vin de Garde is attached to a stand with simple string inlay and rosewood crossbanding beneath, standing on 4 square tapering legs with ebony banding on the fore edges and painted swags and tails down the front. Very clean, stylish Vin de Garde.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
