French realist painter born in St Nicolas d'Attez in 1823. He studied painting in Paris under the wing of the painter Auguste Glaize. After a stay in Germany from 3 three years, he comes back and makes his living by copying the paintings of Watteau to US customers. It was not until 1860 its participation in the salon with four of her paintings to make it known and recognized by the general public. He is the friend of Fantin Latour, Eugene Boudin, Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet ... who in 1884 organized a banquet to him and offer him a medal with the inscription: "Theodule Ribot, independent painter"
He died in 1891 in Colombes
