Circa 1870, good Victorian mahogany side table/library table. The solid mahogany rectangular top has a rounded gallery at the back. Beneath the top there is an ogee moulding and at the front there are 2 long drawers with original knob handles, escutcheons and locks. The liners of the drawers are made in ash. Beneath this there is a simple beading that continues around the front and sides. The table stands on a trestle style undercarriage, with 4 legs which are turned at the top, have a ring turning and then are fluted and tapering. This continues into a carved fluted urn shaped section and sits on a raised platform, connected in the centre by a wonderful turned tapering column. The platform is on 2 scrolling legs and with a reeded front and a curling toe beneath, finishing on castors. The table its original colour and patination.
