Circa 1870, magnificent exhibition quality Victorian oak four door library bookcase. The bookcase has a very stylish Neo Classical cornice with raised and breakfront sections and a carved patterns. Below this are four glazed doors with fine quality acanthus leaf carved columns, enclosing four adjustable shelves in each section with the original tooled leather aprons which was to prevent soot and dust falling on top of the bookcases. On the base are two short and one long drawers with very stylish bronze handles, over four elaborately carved cupboards framed with carved roundels on each corner which open to reveal a single shelf. The whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth base. Finest quality wood, style and workmanship. The bookcase breaks down into 7 sections plus doors for ease of movement and installation.
