victorian tabletop dinner gong

Circa 1880, small tabletop dinner gong. The brass gong is held in position by two deer antlers, enclosed by EPNS casings to secure them to the base. The base is an elongated oval with an EPNS panel in the centre which has not been engraved. There are two uprights at the front to hold the beater, which is oak with a leather shammy tip. The base is walnut with felt underneath. Simple but very stylish piece of table furniture.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh.
