Circa 1910, Art Nouveau oak hall stand, in the Glasgow style, with tapering form. The large shelf at the top has a back gallery with open fretwork in the form of a heart. Beneath the top section there are two hooks which rotate and have three hooks on each of them. There is a rectangular bevelled edge mirror in the centre, and on either side are very stylish cast and oxidised double hooks with open fretwork on them. These also occur again further down. Beneath the mirror there is a single shelf which is held in place by a simple stylish bracket on each side. There is an open section with three uprights beneath this, and a flat section over a single drawer. To each side of it, there is open fretwork and two turned and tapering columns with knob tops. The hall stand stands on square legs at the front, which taper when they go beneath the bottom shelf. There is an aperture for two trays, however the trays are missing. Very unusual, stylish hall stand.

    Georgian Antiques

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
