17th century coffer

Wonderful, English, Oak, Six Plank Chest

Lovely patina, knolling design on the edges and scratch carving.Nice, tall, legs, which haven't been too cut down.The overall condition is good. The hinges are sound, the top is sound and unsplit and the legs are good. There is some old woodworn, however, my husband tells me it is not live - there's no powder coming from the holes, there are scratches and bumps and some old damage to one of the legs (see photo) but this is all part and parcel of the coffer's considerable age. Also, I'm not sure, but I think that the hinges may be 18th century, however, the DH reckons not and he's more of an expert than I am.It measures 114cmx40cm(depth)x54cm
