This superb mid-Victorian wall regulator is by the world-renowned company of E.J. Dent.
Dent, apart from their most well-known work making the clock for Big Ben in London, held warrants as clockmakers from Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, through to King George V, Tsar Alexander III, Tsar Nicholas II and Japanese Emperor Mejii.
Their clocks sold worldwide and many of the best public clocks in the USA, Canada and Australia are by Dent.

This clock is a fine mahogany cased regulator which would probably have been mounted in the public area of a major London bank or similar institution. It would have needed to be very accurate and, to that end, has a fine eight-day weight-driven movement with dead-beat escapement, wood rod pendulum and centre sweep seconds.
Fully cleaned and working perfectly. The slight difference in colour on part of the dial in the closeup is a trick of the light.

Please note the height - this is a large and impressive clock.

Delivery and setting up is free within 50 miles of Ipswich, Suffolk. Anywhere else in the UK is £150. We can provide a shipping quote to anywhere in the world.
