Circa 1920s, cabin trunk. With a flat top, reinforced brackets in metal which is riveted in all the corners on the top, bottom and sides. The front of the chest has the most elaborate locking devices with three pairs of clasps, a locking device and two further metal sections which is rather a lot for such a humble chest. The sides, walls and back are reinforced with wrap over metal, rivited with spacing rivets throughout. The underside has 4 small studs to raise it slightly off the ground. It retains its original metal and leather lifting handles and some labels from the original journeys. This would make a great coffee table.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
