chinese export famille verte coffee cup yongzheng

A good quality Chinese export coffee cup with reeded handle, decorated with famille verte enamels, and dating from the Yongzheng period. The side of the cup has been attractively decorated with the figures of two immortals riding on sea creatures above foaming waves, with precious objects in between. There is a band of rich floral decoration around the rim. Height 5.9cm (2.3")

There is a firing flaw inside the cup beneath the rim, and a small firing fault in the foot (see images). As can be appreciated the enamels are in very good condition, with a few small areas of enamel loss. (When looking at the areas of enamel loss in the close up images, remember that the cup is only 6cm tall!)
