Circa 1860, exhibition quality Victorian burr walnut and inlaid credenza. The top has wonderfully selected burr walnut veneers and has a simple boxwood inlay on the fore edge. The moulded fore edge follows the shape of the credenza and has excellent colour. Below this is a simple frieze which has marquetry inlay and this runs all the way around the credenza. There is a stylish beading below this and one large door which is a cornucopia of inlays, burr walnuts, geometric patterns and in the centre is a wonderful gilt brass mounted sevres plaque depicting 2 cherubs. There are curved pilasters on each side of the door with capitols and spirally ebonised inlay. Each end of the credenza has bow fronted glass which is again framed in a stylised brass bezel. There is moulding at the bottom and the whole piece stands on a plinth with a stylish apron. Wonderful neat size Victorian credenza.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
