Circa 1815. An unusual and stylish mahogany freestanding library table/desk in the manner of ‘Gillows of Lancaster’. The solid polished top in rich flame mahogany with a simple fore edge, the frieze polished on all sides with many variations of drawers and pen slides. Each of the drawers has string inlay and small brass handles and framed with a stylish escutcheon, beneath these is string inlay that runs around the entire desk. All resting on four classic Gillow’s style turned, fluted and tapering legs finishing on a tulip shaped foot.
