This huge Mantel Clock is a true masterpiece of French artistry crafted by a renowned clockmaker, Honore Pons c1825 (Stamped on the movement). A stunning design featuring the Satyre , Marsyas playing his flute (Not Pan!) standing on a Sienna marble base.Sculpted forestry around the dial. This would make a rare and valuable addition for a collector and would make a striking statement on any Mantel,desk or Hall table.It is 69 cm high and 42.5 wide and 17.5 cm deep and is VERY heavy eight day clock striking the hours and halves on a bell silk suspension.
Honore Pons was a distinguished clockmaker in France who was brought in by the French Government to increase the quality of french Clockmakers.
