Circa 1830, very stylish Louis-Philippe French mahogany and brass inlaid writing table. The rectangular top has a black leather insert with Greek key decoration and blind tooling. There is a crossbanded section with brass inlay, and the whole top is encased in a double ogee moulding of brass. At the front are two drawers, again with brass beading and the original locks and key. At each end are sections with ribbed brass. The desk is polished on all sides making the piece freestanding. The whole piece stands on four simple but elegant turned legs with a cast brass bezel at the top and brass fluting, finishing on cast brass bun feet. Excellent colour and great condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
