Circa 1900, unusual exhibition quality Louis XV style music cabinet, stamped with the maker’s name ‘J & T Scott, 10 George Street, Edinburgh’. The freestanding piece has various combinations on the front, sides, and back. The front of the piece has a set of six drawers with very stylish Rococo beadings and cast brass and ormolu mounted Rococo handles, and a panel which is framed with Rococo and foliate carving. On the right hand side of the cabinet is an open section which could be used for storage. Beneath that section there is also a fielded panel. On the left hand side there is a polished fielded panel again in the Rococo style, and the back is polished with similar carving. Beneath the whole piece there is a stylish shaped apron which runs around on all sides, and the whole piece stands on four squat Queen Anne feet. A good piece of Edinburgh-made furniture.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
