Circa 1900, neat sized sarcophagus shaped storage ottoman in the form of a wine cooler. The lid has a flat section on the top with a simple ogee moulded fore edge above raised chamfered sides with stylish matching veneers. This is hinged and opens to reveal a lifting tray with 2 small cut out handles and beneath this is a polished uninterrupted storage area. There is a lock at the front and the key is present. There is a very stylish hinged escutcheon which is rectangular with canted corners with foliate casting on it. At the sides there are 2 ring pull handles with a pressed back plate again with a flower head on it. The body of the ottoman is tapering and at the base there are 2 small squat bracket feet at the front and at the back. The whole piece is polished and free standing.
