Mid 19thC Rosewood Pole Screen with Tapestry Panel and Base Raised on Brass Lion's Paw Feet

A lovely quality rosewood & veneered piece from around 1840-60, with slender pole surmounted by an acorn finial and carrying a tapestry-covered panel secured by an unusual brass calliper, the pole with brass ring height adjuster, over a wrythen-turned stem on a square support with rose petal collar, all on a circular base, quarter-veneered in a diamond pattern with cross-banded edging and projecting blocks on brass lion's paw feet, this exceptional early Victorian pole screen will charm in any elegantly-furnished reception room, fully-deserving of the envious attention it will surely attract.

    O/All Height 144.5cm (c57")
    Width of Tapestry Panel 37.25cm x Height 33.25cm (c14.75" x c13")
    Veneered Base 34cm x 34cm (13.5" x 13.5")
    O/All Paw Feet 40cm x 40cm (15.75" x 15.75')

This piece dates from the middle of the 19thC, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use; the brass height-adjusting ring is jammed closed but, in all other respects, it's in very good, clean & sound condition and ready to use in your home.
