Circa 1880, set of 6 George III style mahogany dining chairs. The chairs are a Victorian copy of an 1820 set of chairs. The curved top rail has various reeded sections above the central splat with foliate carving. Beneath this is another stretcher which is reeded, as are the uprights. Beneath this is a drop in seat pad, held in place on a raised frame with similar panels to the top rail. The back legs are square, tapering and outswept, and the front legs are turned and tapering finishing on bulbous extended toes. There is a turned cross over stretcher with a block in the centre. There is a pattern number on the base of some of the chairs.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
