Circa 1870, beautiful Victorian burr walnut breakfast table of neat proportions. The oval shaped top has matching quarter veneers and unusual ebonised boxwood inlay and banding. The top has a lovely moulded edge, and again the apron has inlay of boxwood and ebony. The carcass of the table is mahogany and all the screw holes have been enclosed with mahogany plugs. The piece stands on four stylish turned and carved columns which finish in a centre piece with a large carved finial. From this platform extends four elegant swept feet which are sabre in style, reeded, and finish on a block toe with a Greek key pattern. Beneath this are brass and white porcelain castors. Beneath the platform base is also another finial. The whole piece is in excellent condition, is sturdy and would seat four people comfortably.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
