Circa 1870, Victorian marble and bronze mantel clock. The clock is surmounted by a bronze lady holding what appears to be a compass in one hand and a globe in the other, lying back on a fluted drum which is gilded and houses the clock. The front of the clock has a beaded ormolu bezel, and the original glass is quite thick and has a bevelled edge. The white enamelled face has Roman numerals the name ‘C.Detouche’ in Paris. The clock and bronze sit on a white marble plinth which is heavily stained. The plinth is almost pagoda in shape with fluting and a brass beading, and the whole piece stands on turned brass squat bun feet. The clock has been serviced and is working. Although the marble has poor colour the overall effect of the clock is stylish and classical.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
