Circa 1860, wonderful mid Victorian military teak blanket box/trunk of generous proportions. The large rectangular top with its cast brass quarter brackets. In the centre there is an embedded brass plaque with canted corners and scribed on the sides. It has been engraved “A. Small, Dundee”. The top has a deep apron and is hinged. When the lid is open there are 3 large brass hinges to retain the lid and the original lock on the front. Inside there is an open space. At the sides there are 2 massive cast brass lifting handles, and brass strapping down the front and the back. This trunk is great size, good storage, would make a wonderful coffee table.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
