Circa 1800, a walnut and burr walnut 3 part Dutch bureau bookcase. The bookcase top has a classic Dutch Rococo cornice with a large central motif of a shell with a bird inside it, and below this are 2 panelled doors with burr walnut panels, shaped sides, carved top, a wonderful carved basket of flowers at the bottom and there are a pair of pull out candle slides. The doors open to reveal the interior with various shelves and drawers, and all the shelves have stylish aprons below them. Below is the bureau with on a bombe base with serpentine canted corners standing on hairy paw feet. The inside of the bureau has a sliding section and various serpentine shaped drawers, and a writing surface. Retains original Rococo brass handles. Classic shape, great style.
