Circa 1870, large Louis IV style French marble-top, serpentine-front, kingwood commode. The grey and pink marble top with moulded edge sits over 2 deep drawers with quarter veneered kingwood panels and boxwood string outline and cross banding. It has elaborate rococo handles and escutcheons, and similar inlaid panels to the sides. There is a shaped frieze with ormolu mounts, and stands on tapering cabriole supports with ormolu sabots.
